10 November 2017 FOMU launches EXTRA 2017 at Atelier Néerlandais, Paris.
The upcoming issue focuses on critique. EXTRA 22 explores critical positions in photography and highlights the importance of criticism.
On the occasion of Paris Photo 2017, EXTRA publishers FOMU andFw:Books welcome you to an informal debate about photography awards, based on Donald Weber’s thought-provoking essay “You Win, Photography Loses. Awards, Competitions and the Corrupting of a Profession”. Written especially for EXTRA.
With introductions by Frits Gierstberg and Anne Ruygt (guest editors of EXTRA 22) and Donald Weber (photographer, teacher). Respondents include Lars Boering (managing director of World Press Photo, Amsterdam), Lucy Conticello (director of photography at M, the weekend magazine of Le Monde, Paris; member of the 2017 Foam Paul Huf Award jury a.o.), Anouk Kruithof (artist and founder of Anamorphosis Prize, Amsterdam/New York/Mexico City), Brett Rogers (director of The Photographers’ Gallery, London, host of Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize).
