ENCLOSED CONTENT CHATTING AWAY IN THE COLOUR INVISIBILITY
published in Årets vakreste Bøker (Most Beautiful Norwegian Books) awards excellent book-design, and is the only visual book-competition in Norway. The award has a history going back to 1933. Grafill, the organizer asked us to design the award on a 3 year contract, including acting as consultants on the development of the award to meet new technology and trends in the field. We started to restructure the competition to make it more up to date, and wanted the redesign to question and debate the changes and the book-design climate.
The 2012 awards saw a further investigation into the evaluation and critique of design. This year we focused on how choices are made in judging the winning books. It showed a subjective side of the judging as opposed to the objective theme from 2011. An important part of the theme was to make the jury process transparent and be clear about the criteria used in judging. A temporary website was developed to help streamline the submission process. It acts as an information site and contains necessary information about the awards as well as a submission form. It is fully responsive to fit all browser platforms.
